What's the New Zealand eTA?

The New Zealand eTA is an electronic travel authorization for visitors to New Zealand issued through a unique online application system. After the submitted traveler will receive the authorization by email.

The New Zealand eTA can be obtained by completing the online application with personal information, travel details, passport data, and some security questions.

The New Zealand eTA conditions

Once approved, the New Zealand eTA is valid for 2 years and can be used for multiple visits.

Requirements for New Zealand eTA

For traveling to New Zealand with an eTA, foreign nationals must meet all the following requirements:

  • Any of the applicants must either be a citizen of one of the eligible countries.
  • The applicant must have a valid payment method.
  • Passports must be valid for at least three (3) months at the time of arrival in New Zealand.

Important Information about the New Zealand eTA

  • eTA holders will be informed via email of any updae about the status of their application.
  • Information provided on the application must match exactly with the one on the passport used when traveling.
  • Once the application is submitted it will be studied by an Immigration Officer.
  • The result of the application will be sent electronically through the email provided by the applicant.
  • Upon arrival, travelers will be requested to present their eTA at the border control checkpoint.
  • The duration of each stay of the eTA holder may not exceed the designated 90-day period per entry.

Requirements to enter New Zealand

When foreign nationals reach New Zealand it is imperative they present the following:

  • A passport valid for at least three (3) months from the arrival date in New Zealand
  • The approved New Zealand eTA
